Melbourne based guitar teacher

If you have been looking for an experienced Melbourne based guitar teacher. Then consider Pat Lajoie’s guitar lessons Melbourne service.

In his hometown of Melbourne, Australia Pat is an active musician / producer. He can be found playing various local gigs and running a private music school from home.

Pat started his studies in Jazz guitar back in 1981 with Guitarist Mark Cally, who now resides in Los Angeles and teaches at Musician Institute. After working with Mark for 3 years, Mark recommended Pat to study with Melbourne jazz guitar icon Bruce Clarke which he did for a year.

Pat has travelled to NYC on numerous occasions during the 90s in order to  continue his studies and experience the NYC jazz scene first hand. During these visits Pat managed to study guitar with contemporary guitarist / educator Bruce Arnold an others.

In 1996, Pat attended a jazz guitar masterclass workshop with guitar great, John Scofield. A highlight for Pat was that he managed to sit in with John Scofield’s trio during the final performances.

A week later Pat also attended two other masterclass workshops with Jim Hall and Pat Martino.

Nowadays, Melbourne based guitar teacher Pat Lajoie is busy composing and producing his original music as well as producing for other clients.

He has also been very successful getting his original music placed in music libraries globally.

Previous Music Experience

His music experience over the years have allowed him to perform internationally in a wide variety of music styles including Jazz, Rock, Blues and Adult Contemporary pop.

As well as teaching online, he runs a private guitar school from home in Melbourne Australia. Currently Pat has advanced students (who I have taught for the past 5 years) and still regularly continue to attend their weekly lessons as he guides them further.

Pat teaches guitar students of all ages and experience levels. I studied and played jazz, progressive rock, blues and classical guitar forever 30 years. He can teach students to read music and pursue jazz / classical excellence, or to learn how to play contemporary music using chord sheets. It all depends on the goals and preference of the student.

Pat firmly believes that musically, we are the result of what we practice, so it’s vitally important to get the processes right in the practice room.

He looks forward to meeting you and helping you to become a better musician!

Pat holds:

  • a Master Certificate in Songwriting from Berklee College of Music.
  • a Professional Certificate in General Music Studies from Berklee College of Music.
  • He also holds a Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering from RMIT University Melbourne.
